CDatalog 1.0Demo versionYou can download the demo version of the program free of charge. And don't forget to check out our freeware gift, the ClockSaver, too. |

The demo version has some limitations:
The demo version will not time out, it will remain fully functional. If you can live with these limitations, you're welcome to use it. However, if you would like to enjoy the additional features, please, consider purchasing the full version. Although there is no export feature in the demo version, any data entered into it will be automatically accepted by the full version upon installation (but only if the full version is installed over the demo one; removing the demo version first will delete the catalog database as well).
Do you find the standard Date and Time screen saver of the phone hardly legible because of its small size? Then try our Tramontána ClockSaver, offered completely free of charge. It shows the time in either large digits or on a large dial, easy to read even without the background lighting. It also displays the date, the day of the week, the selected profile, and it uses icons to show the locked status of the keyboard, incoming SMS, e-mail and voicemail messages, missed calls, silent ringing, alarms set and Bluetooth status. The digital version automatically switches between 12-hour and 24-hour display as set in the phone preferences. It's a genuine screen saver integrated into the operating system of the phone, not a separate application running in the background constantly. This means a very small memory footprint, negligible use of the phone's resources, including approximately the same low battery consumption as with the original screen saver. Installation instructions appear when you install the application and can be read in our FAQ as well. Newer Series 60Nokia E50 and upwards, N71 and upwards are based on the third edition of the S60 series. We have already started to update the screensaver to this newer generation of phones as well (but we still offer the older screensavers, just scroll down a bit if you have an earlier phone). There is a fundamental change introduced with this new platform: the requirement to digitally sign applications to be installed on the phone. Symbian decided on this because of security reasons and, basically, the underlying idea is sound. Fraudulent applications might send out SMS messages or initiate phone calls to expensive locations behind your back and you won't even notice it until you get your enormous monthly bill from your cellphone operator. Signatures based on digital certificates issued by trustworthy certification authorities make it possible to track down the source of such malicious software. There is only one catch: the expenses. Although not exorbitant for developers of commercial applications, they are not actually that feasible for freeware development. It doesn't kill freeware development completely because many programs can get away without a signature from an external authority, these are self-signed by the developers themselves. When you install them, the phone warns you about that fact but if you accept it and go past the warning, the application will be installed. The requirement for a real signature depends on the scope of the application, the level of access it needs to the underlying system of the phone. Applications that don't really touch the capabilities of the phone as a communications device (set or modify phone settings, access sensitive stored data, initiate calls) but merely use the phone as a computer to run on (games, various utilities, document readers and writers, calendars, organizers, etc) are normally allowed to install without an authorized digital signature—this is why you can see many a freeware application on various web sites even for 3rd Edition phones. Unfortunately for us, screensavers don't fall into this category. Only the system engineers at Symbian could tell us the reason why but all screensavers, even those like ours that only display the time, date and a handful of icons to notify you about various states of the phone, have to be programmed at an elevated level of security and, therefore, cannot be simply self-signed by us. We might later on decide to bite the bullet and apply for a digital signature (small PayPal donations or purchase of our commercial offerings might instigate us to do so, wink, wink) but until then, we can only direct you to the online signing service of Symbian where you can sign the installation file you downloaded from here. Note that this is a one-off process, no registration or fee is required but you can only sign the program so that it can be installed on your own phone (you have to provide the unique IMEI number during the proces). You can repeat the process if you have several phones or you can re-sign the application if you replace your phone and therefore, your IMEI number changes, but each copy will be signed for a specific phone, not generally for any phone. Also, and we ask for your understanding, we cannot provide more assistance than the step-by-step guide we describe here. Unless Symbian changes something or closes up this service, it does work. If it fails for you, re-read the instructions more carefully and try again, it worked for us and it worked for tens of thousands of other phone users, so you should be no exception to the rule if you follow the description. We cannot offer any more support than this description, please, don't send us e-mail requests to do it for you, especially not ones stating your IMEI number; IMEI is a sensitive piece of information, it uniquely identifies your phone and, together with your phone, you. It can be used to record your moves, location, whereabouts if it gets into the wrong hands. We immediately and automatically delete all such incoming mail without reading and replying to them. Thank you for your understanding. Step 1: DownloadSelect the version that suits your taste. All versions, both digital and analog will use the new possibilities of the platform and will automatically scale themselves to the size of the phone screen; the icons are automatically scaled as well to provide the easiest readout possible. On phones that automatically switch between portrait and landscape orientation depending on how you keep them in your hand the screensaver will also adapt automatically, without user intervention, provided the manufacturers fix the bugs in their phones that prevent this from happening in some devices.
The analog version will be ported, too, in the near future. Just check back a little bit later. This is version 1.00(3) now, the previous one caused memory conflicts with Clock and Calendar after a few days of running. We have been monitoring it closely now for a couple of days, the bug seems to have been fixed. Remember that simply installing a new version over an old one never replaces the running copy of a screensaver, you need to restart the phone for the new version to actually step into action. The new version has been reported to run on Nokia E71, N95-8GB so far. If you can't find your model listed, please, report back so that we can add it to the list. You don't have to write an e-mail, just use our online form to drop us a line; consider this few seconds' worth of time as the only price we ask for the program. We need the list to help others who might have problems with the installation to see whether there is some general incompatibility with their phone or just a single case. Thank you. Step 2: Signing at Symbian
Older Series 60The original version ran on older Series 60 phones (It has been reported to run on Nokia 3230, 6600, 6620, 6630, 6682, 7610, N70 so far. If you can't find your model listed, please, report back so that we can add it to the list.) Select from the following typefaces and digit sizes. The large version will show the time in the maximum size that fits the screen. Medium and small are proportionally smaller but still very easy to read. Digital display
Analog displayThe analog clock version comes in three variants, only differing in the design of the clock dial. If you want to be able to use both the digital and the analog screensaver, switching from one to the other at will, you can simply install both versions on your phone, they will co-exist peacefully and can be swapped at any time in System > Themes > Options > Edit > Screen saver (don't forget to restart the phone, though).
Please, see the ClockSaver section in our FAQ to get answers to common questions regarding installation and use. |
